The AARP Community Challenge provides nonprofits and government entities with grants of several hundred to several thousand dollars to fund projects that help make communities livable for people of all ages.
Priorities for the 2018 grants are projects that deliver a range of transportation and mobility options; create vibrant public places that improve open spaces, parks and access to other amenities; support the availability of accessible and affordable housing options; and provide other community improvements.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. May 16. In 2017, the AARP Community Challenge awarded 88 grants.
