CARIE offers resources on PA's new managed care program

Pennsylvania’s new mandatory managed care program, Community HealthChoices (CHC), began in the 5-county Southeastern PA area on January 1, impacting approximately 130,000 adults who have Medicare and Medicaid or who receive Medicaid funded long term care at home, in the community or in a nursing home.

CHC is a significant change for consumers and providers and CARIE is serving as a consumer advocate and problem solver.

Numerous educational materials and resources can be found here, including:

An Advocate’s Guide to Community HealthChoices, a comprehensive resource guide with advocacy tips and resource information;

Consumer Fact Sheets; and

Short videos, such as a one minute video on consumer rights.  Consumers and advocates are encouraged to sign-up for the CHC Grapevine to get tips and updates.

CARIE advocates are available to help educate consumers about CHC and their rights and can be contacted with any questions or advocacy needs at 215-545-5728. Presentations for either consumer or professional groups are available at no cost and can be scheduled by contacting David Johnson.
