SEPTA to stop selling tokens for clients, offers nonprofit program

SEPTA is nearing completion of the rollout of the Key fare program for Transit -- bus, trolley, subway, and the Norristown High Speed Line. Early last summer, the sale of Tokens, paper Transfers, and paper One Day Convenience Passes ended for individual riders and the Authority launched the Partner Portal for agencies and organizations.

In 2018, SEPTA held a series of briefing sessions about the Partner Portal program to provide information to representatives of various agencies.   Given that the Partner Program represents a completely new way to purchase SEPTA fare products, during these sessions, we asked for feedback and comments.  Two major issues were raised – having ACH as the only payment option, and the inability to purchase a single trip or single trip with a transfer fares.  Responding to these concerns, SEPTA has added a Credit Card option for orders under $7,000 and has created two new Partner Pass purchase options - the 1 Trip and the 1 Trip + Transfer passes.

With over 350 organizations registered and actively using the Partner Portal, and token use declining, effective April 15, 2019, SEPTA will no longer support the sale of tokens to organizations.  If your organization has not already joined the Partner Program, the time to do so is now. Tokens already purchased will continue to be accepted for travel for the foreseeable future.

The following are the Partner Passes options now available for purchase:

If your agency has not yet joined the SEPTA Key Partner Program, we highly encourage you to do so now.  We believe the new credit card payment option combined with the two new fare options will provide all agencies the flexibility they need to adequately serve their clients.  The Pass products will be available when you view the product selections on the Partner Portal website when placing your next order.  If you would like to change your payment option to Credit Card, please contact the Partner Portal Help desk at 1-855-567-3782, press option number 5.
