Join us for a day devoted to LGBT older adult health, including a full SAGECare training for agency leaders, a keynote discussion over breakfast, and a networking hour with community partners, Drexel faculty and students, and more!
The training will be held at the Three Parkway building on May 29th 8:30am to 4pm.
"The population of LGBT senior Pennsylvanians—a large and growing one— has unique needs due to a lifetime of discrimination and harassment. LGBT older adults should not be fearful when seeking health care or long-term care."
— Chris Bartlett, Executive Director, William Way LGBT Community Center, Philadelphia, PA
In this important training, you will:
- Learn about the culture, needs and concerns of LGBT older adults
- Consider why LGBT older adults are less likely to access health and social services
- Learn practices for helping LGBT older adults to feel more included in aging network organizations
Who Should Attend?
Executives, administrators and directors of long-term care, skilled nursing and home visiting agencies. Registration is limited to two participants per agency.
Registration and CEUs are free to participants thanks to the support of co-sponsors at Drexel University. Food is made possible by Leading Age PA. Due to limited registration, we will ask for confirmation of attendance two weeks before the event. Please make all efforts to commit at registration.
Nursing Home Administrator credits (4.0 total hours) will be made available for free through the William Way LGBT Community Center. Participation certificates will be issued to everyone, documenting hours of attendance, learning objectives, and the College of Nursing and Health Professions logo (often suitable for nursing professionals). These are NOT formal nursing contact hour certificates as this is an outside curriculum.
