The Achieving Independence Center Mentor Program, sponsored by Valley Youth House, serves adolescents between the ages of 14 and 21 who have or had involvement with the foster care system. Mentoring relationships with caring adults will help the youth improve their well-being and achieve self-sufficiency. The Mentor Program provides an opportunity for the youth to build self-esteem, develop a permanent relationship with an adult, establish a network of support, and increase socials skills.
We are currently in the process of recruiting adult mentors for our youth. Mentors will receive on-going support and training from the AIC Mentoring Program for the duration of the mentor/mentee relationship requires a commitment of 2 encounters per month with the youth for a duration of one year.
