The Local Board for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) in Philadelphia allocates funds from the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program for emergency assistance programs in Philadelphia County.
EFSP’s purpose is to provide emergency shelter, food, rent/mortgage and utility assistance to individuals in dire need and for whom no other resources are available. In addition to the Phase 37 EFSP program, the federal CARES Act allows for the provision of emergency shelter, food, rent/mortgage and utility assistance funding for agencies addressing the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The EFSP Local Board is requesting funding proposals from local nonprofit agencies developed in conformity with the guidelines found in the EFSP Phase 37 and CARES Phase RFPs. Agencies are invited to apply for one or both Phases using two separate applications. Additional information may be found on the EFSP website. Applications may be obtained from EFSP Administrator, Cindy Volkert, at 215-854-7025. Applications must be submitted to Ms. Volkert by 5:00 pm on Friday, June 26, 2020.
EFSP is a restricted federal grant and funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). While Philadelphia City/County EFSP activities are administrated by Catholic Social Services, EFSP is not a program of Catholic Social Services.
