Last time I told you how your local United Way is embarking on a journey – a journey to create greater opportunities for equity, to be more inclusive, to be better informed and to use our position to listen to and elevate black voices in our communities.
I called on you to help us raise $1 million before June 30th and I am thrilled to report that we raised nearly $200,000 toward our year-end goal!
Our supporters have already made so much possible this year:
- More preschool children have a safe place to be educated
- More school-aged children have a library of books of their own
- More young adults enter the workforce earning a living wage
- More families on the brink of homelessness find security and safety
Let’s keep this momentum going. The only way we’ll hit our goal is by supporters, advocates and leaders, like you, making a donation today.
Hitting this goal will send a strong message and help us work towards eliminating poverty in our region and advocating for economic opportunity for all.
At United Way, we are singularly focused on lifting our neighbors out of poverty. It has been made all too clear that we have much work to do in the fight against systemic racism and prejudice and in reversing a system that has fed the cycle of poverty for generations.
We hope you join us on this journey as we focus on proven interventions that have the most impact: Early Learning to start a child on a successful path, Opportunity, Employment & Entrepreneurship to support minority businesses, and Financial Empowerment to help individuals and families meet their basic needs and then, flourish.
For nearly 100 years, United Way has been committed to the health and well-being of you and your neighbors. If you are healthy, safe and have enough to spare, would you please consider making a $25 gift to help United Way serve our most vulnerable communities during this unprecedented year?
