Drexel offers Community Health Worker, Certified Peer Specialist Training

Drexel University's Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice is now accepting applications for the Community Health Worker Peer/ Certified Peer Specialist Training Academy.

This is a paid job training program for young adults, age 18-24 with lived experience of violence or trauma to receive dual certification as Community Health Workers and Certified Peer Specialists. This program is a good fit for young adults interested in becoming healers and helpers in their communities and entering the human service or healthcare fields.

The minimum requirements for eligibility are:

  • Philadelphia county resident
  • Age 18-24
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Experience of violence or trauma (to themselves or someone close to them)
  • Willing to commit to 165 hours of training over 9 weeks (October - December 2021)

Participants will receive a training stipend, transportation assistance and a free Chromebook.
