Bread and Roses offers help for COVID-19 community organizing

Bread and Roses Community Fund believes that the COVID-19 pandemic creates an unprecedented need for grassroots community organizing in the Philadelphia region, along with barriers to doing that work.

To meet the urgent needs of grassroots community organizing groups, Bread & Roses has launched the Solidarity Fund for COVID-19 Organizing with support from our partners at Samuel S. Fels Fund, Independence Public Media Foundation, and the Alfred and Mary Douty Foundation. This fund will make grants of up to $10,000 to support new community organizing efforts as well as help established grassroots groups weather this storm.

Here are ways that you can help:

Make a gift. We already have over $350,000, but we need at least $500,000 to address the immediate needs of grassroots community organizing groups. You can give online right now to help us meet our goal.

Apply for a grant. Both new and established grassroots community organizing groups in the Philadelphia region are eligible to apply. Learn more about the application process.

Help us spread the word. We need your help to raise money and get these funds to grassroots community organizing groups as quickly as possible. Check out our outreach kit for sample social media posts, images, and other tools, or, simply forward this message.

This is a scary, unprecedented time. But our community is strong, generous, and resilient. We've faced challenges before by pulling together, and we can do it again.

Thank you for everything you do to create justice in the Philadelphia region and beyond.
