The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is entering its second summer of a pilot program that would fund the installation, repair, or replacement of air conditioning units.
LIHEAP’s Crisis Cooling Pilot allows homeowners who already receive some form of LIHEAP to qualify for two Energy Star-rated room air conditioner units or one unit and a fan, or repair or replacement of your existing but broken central air conditioning system.
You will need to find the letter confirming you have received LIHEAP in the past year, then reach out to the Energy Coordinating Agency and Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation, who are administering the program. Or you may go in person to a Neighborhood Energy Center to apply.
