Child Trends to showcase young Black leaders in child well-being

Please join Child Trends on Thursday, June 13 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. ET as we showcase the newest generation of leaders advocating for Black child and family well-being.

Creating 21st-century communities in which Black children, youth, and families can flourish requires strong agents for social change. Child Trends is excited to bring together a dynamic panel of leaders ages 30 and under who are dismantling systemic racism in their communities.

Panelists include emerging leaders focused on a range of issues—including adolescent mental health, maternal and infant health, housing, community development, organizing, and safety—who will discuss their efforts to create communities of promise and hope for Black children and families.

Panelists for the event are:

• Marshara Fross, PhD., Perinatal Justice Scholar and Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of South Florida’s Center of Excellence in Maternal & Child Health
• Luis J. Hernandez, Founder of Youth Over Guns
• Jha’Niyah Holland, Entrepreneur and Community Safety Advocate
• Zonnie Thompson, Housing Justice Project Coordinator at Reinvent South Stockton
• Rachel Warren, Coordinator of the Reimagine Black Youth Mental Health Initiative
