HopePHL shares best practices for working with homeless youth

HopePHL's “Building Early Links for Learning” Project (BELL) convened a group of 20 staff from homeless housing programs to discuss what is needed to support young children. We have captured their ideas into a booklet and are making it available.

We offer this booklet to encourage all housing programs to provide these services, educate new staff, and consider adding these services to job descriptions.

The booklet is not meant to be an all-inclusive document on how homeless housing staff can support children and families.

Included are:

  •     Activities that should be enacted when a family enters a housing programs
  •     Special Shout Outs for Best Practitioners
  •     Gaps in services in which homeless housing staff identified the needs that would build their capacity to support young children
  •     A resource guide

Read and download the booklet here.
