Children First plans virtual Give Kids Sight Day on Oct. 9th

Children First, formerly PCCY, invites you to help spread the word about Give Kids Sight Day, an event geared towards kids who did not have or did not pass an eye screening this year and who do not have health insurance.

This year we are providing care virtually via tele-health, by appointment only.  Vision screenings will be provided for 670 children from 9:00am – 5:00pm on Saturday, October 9. Children who do not pass the screening will be scheduled for in-person eye exams at Wills Eye Hospital, and those who need glasses will receive two free pairs.

Starting on September 20th families can call our remote call center at 215-563-5848 x21 to make an appointment.

Download and post these Sight Day flyers available in multiple languages for your organization and in key spots in your community. Flyers are available in English, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Indonesian, Khmer, Nepali, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese. We also have hard copies of the flyers – contact Beth Dougherty or 215-563-5848 x21 if you would like to pick up flyers from our office, have them sent to you in the mail, or for any other questions.

Help spread the word further by joining us on social media! You can find us on Facebook @PHLGKSD or Twitter @PHL_GKSD.

We are also looking for volunteers to staff our remote call center starting Monday, September 20th where families call in to make appointments for virtual eye screenings for their kids. All calls will be answered remotely using your cell phone or laptop through a program that shows calls as coming from Children First, not your personal phone, and all registration will be done online. If you are interested in volunteering for our remote call center please sign up here. *You will also need to sign up for a remote training session prior to your first shift.

Language interpreters are also needed virtually to assist with the vision screenings on October 9th, with the highest demand for Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Indonesian speakers. If you are interested in volunteering as a remote interpreter please sign up here.
