Women United Power of the Purse honors Susan Jacobson

On December 8, Women United of Greater Philadelphia will celebrate our current portfolio of Impact initiatives and recognize extraordinary women in leadership and philanthropy at our virtual event, Power of the Purse.

Event attendees will have the opportunity to see firsthand how, in partnership with United Way, Women United empowers women and families in our community to build strong, independent lives from cradle to career. Each year, Women United recognizes the outstanding contributions of women leaders dedicated to changing the lives of others. This year we are honored to recognize Susan Jacobson as our 2021 Women United Honoree.

Susan is an award-winning communicator, strategist, and advisor. She brings decades of experience to her work as president of Jacobson Strategic Communications, a leading Philadelphia-based public relations, public affairs, and crisis management firm. Prior to joining the communications sector, Susan oversaw government relations as Deputy Chief of Staff to former Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell. Susan and her company have won numerous awards and recognitions, including securing a spot on the Inc. 5000 for three years in a row. Actively engaged in the community, Susan is the Chair of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, serves as Vice Chair of the National PBS Foundation Board, as a Commissioner on the Governor’s Pennsylvania Commission for Women, and as a contributor to Forbes.com.

In addition to celebrating our Women United Honoree, we will recognize the impactful work of the 2021 Women United sponsorship recipients: BankWork$, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), and partner agencies Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, Tri-County YWCA in Pottstown, and Urban Promise in Camden, NJ.

Power of the Purse is part of our yearlong celebration of our United Way’s 100th Anniversary. We hope you will join us as we commemorate this important milestone!

Event proceeds make a measurable difference in the lives of women and families in our community through best-in-class programs that support initiatives in Early Learning, Career Pathways, and Financial Empowerment.
