Nonprofit council calls for action on retention tax credit

The Build Back Better bill currently does not include extension and expansion of the Employee Retention Tax Credit, a high priority of the charitable nonprofit community and a benefit that was eliminated for the fourth quarter of 2021 upon enactment of the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

Nonprofits have been counting on the refundable payroll tax credit of up to $7,000 per employee this quarter to afford to retain staff and avoid additional layoffs.
